Today, we experienced a true New York deli.  Katz’s deli has been around since the late 1800’s.  It was frantic and fun –a fantastic way to celebrate the fourth of July.

 

 

I’ve never seen so much pastrami or corned beef on a sandwich.

The matza ball soup was delicious and also, enormous.

Katz’s Deli is also where the infamous When Harry Met Sally scene was shot……

 

Katz’s Del was definitely one of our NYC highlights though I think we’ve had enough pastrami and corned beef to last us for a very long time.

 

 

 

 

 

Today, we explored the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central park.

We tried to rental bicycles from the Loeb Boathouse but they were sold out.  We explored Cental Park on foot and saw the Alice in Wonderland sculpture.

We watched some street entertainment and had drinks at the boathouse.

 

 

 

We loved the Empire State Building!  Olivia was excited to find an image of Stromae, a French singer.  I tried to get a picture of the Chrysler Building in the background of Olivia and Sophie.

We arrived in Connecticut at around noon on July 1st.  It was an incredibly long journey.  After a nap, we went for a swim and picnic on Todd Beach, Long Island Sound.  It was beautiful!

Today, we’re exploring New York City — Grand Cental Station, Times Square, NYC Library, Carousel and juggling at Bryant Park.  Just heading to the Empire State Building.

After a change of planes and a four hour delay, we circled Newark airport in a thunder and lightning storm.  We arrived in Philadelphia at about 5:30am.  Philadelphia was not part of our itinerary.

After boarding the plane and settling in, we heard the dreaded announcement,”Sorry folks! Due to a technical difficulty, we request that you gather your belongings and exit the aircraft.”

Olivia and Sophie didn’t mind — Alaska Airlines provided us with a delicious snack pack.  And, Olivia has discovered her new favourite cheese, smoked Gouda.

What’s another 3 hours when you have a snack pack and Wikki Stix?!
